Burnley pub for sale: Historic Cross Keys Hotel hits the market after 500 years

The Cross Keys Hotel, believed to be Burnley’s second oldest pub, is on the market. A tavern has stood at 170 St James Street since the early 1500s; the current stone building dates to 1906 and still carries its carved cross-keys emblem. Once tied to Masseys brewery, the pub reopened in 2019 after a spell of closure. The sale raises big questions about the site’s future—and whether it will stay a pub.
